Is it the culture? Is it race? pennsylvania is it institutionalized racism? Where whites throughout the years have tried to get a leg up on minorities. Where they always have tried to put them at the bottom of the socio-economic spectrum even till this day. Im not saying there arent white poor people, but the media doesnt really focus on them. They focus on the minorities. Theyve been telling us that blacks are synonymus with poor, bad, lowlifes, thugs, gangsters, dangerous, criminals, and every negative stereotype you can think of. Same with hispanics. Why is this?
Your question isn't clear and it's misleading. There are rich , middle class, and poor Hispanics and Blacks. Are you referring to some averaged out wealth between groups? If so, then in the case of "Blacks" , well, they were strongly discriminated against until civil rights in the 60's- in land ownership, education and jobs. So, you have a huge advantage in wealth in the hands of Europeans, and of course this has direct consequences for opportunities and life outcomes. And we all know that they continue to be discriminated against. Various studies have demonstrated that they don't get asked to interviews as much if their names are identifiably "black" on the application form, they pay higher interest rates for loans, and they get paid less for the same work. Hispanics have faced similar. Discriminatory practices by the majority population has indeed been responsible for wealth disparities. Whether you wish to pretend that isn't the case, it doesn't matter because the historical practices were enough to create a major wealth gap that perpetuates itself.
Perhaps the media doesn't yet understand why anyone would want to live in their conditions. The media disapproves, looks down on places where it isn't all that glamorous. The media is a big influence in society, and perhaps people in those places choose not to follow the minority that have pretty much influenced Western societies such as Canada, and the United States. So to answer your question, I think it's the culture. Me, as a half Hispanic have been brought up to live with less, why? Not to appreciate the things we have more but to learn that having everything doesn't really make you any happier than you are without all those things media says you have to have. The media doesn't focus on poor white people because they just want a minority group to pick at. They want "low minority groups" such as stated to put those on a pedestal. It's all fun and games for them in my opinion.
To me for hispanics it depends the city you live in neighborhood too many of us grow up in poor counties were crime, drugs are pretty much a daily thing. Doesnt you will be a gangster or drug dealer some guys and girl get caught in the whole(barrio) gangster hood thing I have known hispanics that have been poor and become very successful, so really it all depends on the person what they want out of life.
That is a can of worms. It certainly has been examined and analyzed, but none of the conclusions are definitive. I have seen some conclusions that say it is cultural, arising either from factors in the minority cultures and/or the majority culture. Racism alone does not adequately explain it. It certainly was a factor in the past and may still linger somewhat, but it is not institutionalized like it used to be.
Why do white people live in trailers? Why do you think they do it? To portray them as they say they are...which is maybe a part truth...mainly because status can effect anyone and everyone...rich or poor...black and white. etc.., but since racism is prevalent in this country it is only obvious to the victims of it that it is actually racial or stipulated to be......Others believe what they want to believe instead of wanting truths, they accept or go along with what they think other people either tell them or come to conclusions based on incidents hardly relating to it....and when they say all blacks stick together...what do you think white people do when confronted verbally by other white people...It's rare to stick up for anyone other than your own race when you have no understanding about others. and don't want to out of fear and from what you hear portrayed in a stereotypical manner.
Short Answer: Ethnic Succession What is that? From Wikipedia "Ethnic succession theory is a theory in sociology stating that ethnic and racial groups entering a new area may settle in older neighborhoods or urban areas until achieving economic parity with certain economic classes. The concept of succession is well established in "both ecological and economic models of urban residential change." As the newer group becomes economically successful, it moves out to a better residential area." Italians used to be poor, and Irish were poor before them
There is almost the exact same amount of white people on welfare as there are black people. However, I do know what you are saying. I think the problem is lack of education and infrastructure. Many of those black people and hispanics live in economically depressed areas. It is a statistical fact that more people will remain poor for the entirety of their lives than will actually go up in "class". These people need more access to education and jobs, but unfortunately, our country prioritized special interests over public education.
They aren't. I know many wealthy hispanics. My DIL's dad is from Mexico, and he is better off than I am. They do tend to be poor when they first get here, because the wealthy people in Mexico usually stay home rather than travel 1000 miles to find work. But once they get here immigrants frequently do very well. The liberal media probably paints them as poor because they like sterotypes.
Fact is percentage wise blacks and Hispanics have a higher percentage of wealthy than whites. If you don't believe that the easiest ones to spot are in the NBA, NFL but there are many more than just that.
Is that why Asians immigrate to this country and can become a middle class family within a generation despite suffering racism? Don't play the racism card, it's work ethic.
