My husband and I will be in D.C. next weekend for a litle getaway and we have heard about the Morrocan restaurant, Marrakesh. Does anyone know how much the pre fixed menu costs per person? I also heard that they only accept cash/check, no credit?? I've also heard that they charge you extra if you are there around 9:00 when they do the belly dancing, whether you want it or not! We are trying to decide between Marrakesh and the Sky Room restaurant at the top of Hotel Washington for a "romantic" dinner. Any thoughts???
I have been to both restaurants, and they both offer interesting evenings. You are correct in what you heard . . . Marrakesh does not accept credit cards. Dinner is around $30 per person. The food tastes good and it's abundant. You canot leave hungry. The atmosphere is over-the-top "Arabesque," which I find fun. The belly dancing is fascinating. It is not "erotic" if that is what you were worrying about. Many of the dancers do not readily summon eros. This isn't the Hollywood harem's sort of belly-dancing; it gets pretty fast-paced. The dancers are great and the art form is admirable. There is a lot of energy in the room during the dancing, and everyone enjoys it. In sum, I think that Marrakesh would be ideal for a group . . . to take up a whole low lying couch section. Sit around on pillows with friends and eat Arabian delights. It may be fun for a couple, but it would be better for a group. The Hotel Washington has amazing views of the White House and the Washington Monument. Their food is pretty good, as well. This would clearly be the more traditional "pleasant night out" option. Nearby (same block) is the National Theater, so you may be able to catch a show after dinner, depending on your schedule. So, if you really want something different, go to Marrakesh. If you know of any other couples to bring along, do so. Anyway, enjoy!
I would recommend both restaurants. They are both fantastic and it is hard to choose. I mean how often does anyone have dinner overlooking Washington pennsylvania at night or at a Moriccan resturant. Anyway, have a very lovely evening!!! The Marrakesh restaurant is an exotic dining experience that transcends mere dining and brings you into another world where you are greeted by smiling faces in Moroccan garb, taking you out of your daily routine for several wonderful hours. Course after course of Moroccan cuisine featuring succulent meats, vegetables, and salads served against the backdrop of Middle Eastern music and decor will both excite and lull you into one of the most special evenings of your life. Entertainment is provided nightly in the lovely form of a talented professional belly dancer, and the Marrakesh staff will tend to your every need. The Marrakesh restaurant is the perfect place for a celebration and gives exquisite attention to those enjoying a birthday, anniversary, graduation, wedding reception, or that one time secret moment that you want to create or remember. We promise you an experience far out of the ordinary that you will never forget. The Presentation of our Feast Marrakesh serves you like a traditional Moroccan family would at their home. Sure, i've got been there. you should in all likelihood call the eating place to invite approximately pricing, I be conscious that that is not listed on their internet site. Their internet site does say that they only settle for funds or verify, however. once you're searching for Moroccan food, i might advise going to Casablanca in previous city somewhat. i've got been to the two and enjoyed Casablanca greater helpful. Its expenditures are listed on the internet internet site and that they at the instant are not undesirable. additionally, Marrakesh is extraordinary because of the fact each so oftentimes they end each thing and sing chuffed birthday to human beings and stuff. It creates an odd atmosphere. they don't do this at Casablanca. the actual of the lodge Washington is surely superb yet fairly touristy.
