I'm wanting to do this completely online and was hoping anyone that has done it could advise me on a good school to go to. I don't want personal opinions on whether I should do this online. I know what I'm doing, I want suggestions on the schools that are great for online learning as well as fairly inexpensive. I will be receiving pell grants and want to keep loans down to a minimum. I am signed up to start a certificate course online through MCED online and am having second thoughts on this program and school. Any personal experience with MCED would be helpful, too. Oh, and there course total is 13,995.00 and includes all books, a laptop, pennsylvania Office 2007 and the tuition. Please help! I'm scheduled to start with them on the Oct. 27th!!
I went w/ Meditec.com for medical transcription, coding, and billing and I didn't pay anywhere near $14,000! You don't need an Associate degree to do coding and billing. Now, if you want to manage a medical records department, then that would be helpful!
I completely disagree with you as far as going to an online school in general, but you didn't want to hear that part, I know! So anyway, my opinion is that you are getting ripped off big time, and online schools tend to get you through contracts that you may have already signed, so you might be stuck now or have to pay a ridiculus cancellation fee. You'd be paying that much for a certificate, but not even a A.S. degree?? I paid a little over 10,000 and got an A.S. and was eligible for coding certification through AHIMA!
