My wife works at a casino. She recently went from making serving pay and having cash on a daily basis making about $550 a week(includes paycheck and tips) to becoming a manager. Well in the proccess they messed up her paychecks. She went from making about $550 with server pay a week to less than $40 a week with manager pay. She started working about 45 hours a week with an average pay of about $12.50 an hour. Her paychecks were less than $150 in total in about 4 weeks. Now because they have messed up her paychecks we are being evicted from our apartment. We are struggling to put food on tables and I just don't know what we can do. She has contacted the HR department and has even taken it to the executives. However it just seems that we are getting the run around. Any help?
Oh there was this one thing that I left out... Back in March my wife when my wife and I got married for some reason they actually canceled her insurance but continued to take away the deductions. Next thing they messed up on was the fact that she never moved however at the time when we got married my legal address was in pennsylvania and hers was in PA. Granite now we live together however they have been taking out family deductions but providing no insurance.(which we JUST found out) also on another note we did contact her insurance company and they have the paper work to show that we have been billed for insurance but have no insurance, Any of this legal??
Get serious with them. I know you're low on cash, but there are many legal letters that you can purchase online ($10 or so) that demand this sort of thing. Send it certified, and just let them know that you mean business. Other than that, HR is not the department you should be contacting, usually. They are usually where you file complaints, make harassment claims and so forth. I would contact payroll, accounting, the general manager, corporate, etc. All I can tell you is that the squeaky wheel gets the grease, and if what you are saying is correct, they are in major legal violations by not paying properly. Especially if she's working 45 hours a week and getting $150 paychecks -- they should be $550 +. Lastly, I would hate to suggest this, but make sure that your wife is not getting any strange deductions from her pay. Working at a casino, I could see how someone could fall into a trap of charging things to be deducted out of her pay. Just a thought, but surely not correct. As her husband, you may be able to talk to someone about this. Just don't get aggressive or threatening, it will make you look less credible.
What are you bringing to the table as far as income?
I smell a rat...........something else is up here............If your wife has worked 4 weeks (180 hours) and only got $600 bucks............and..............she is not beating down the door in HR..........something else is up...........
