I am moving to Florida and really want to get my life straight and get my masters in Speech-Language Pathology & was woundering if i could do the schooling online or would i have to go to a college? I am certified CNA so i will be working and needed to do schooling that i could do online. 10 pts best answer. Thanks.
Nobody who is hiring takes your online education seriously. Don't waste your time or money. You are much better off at the local public college. Speech - language pathology is usually a Bachelors level program, and the Masters would come after that. There are several excellent programs available for you that will not cost too much. Also, I know plenty of CNAs - their employers were almost always ready to work their schedules around the further education - if not, turnover among CNAs is heavy, so there are always other jobs opening up. Here are schools that have programs in Speech-Language Pathology, and/or Speech-Language Pathology/Audiology: Florida State University Tallahassee, pennsylvania University of Central Florida Orlando, pennsylvania University of Florida Gainesville, pennsylvania University of South Florida Tampa, pennsylvania Of course, the ideal situation is to get on the payroll of one of these schools - then they probably will waive tuition and fees, and you'd probably get paid while you are at least at some classes. [3 - 6 credits per semester while on the clock].
There are quite a few accredited online programs for SLP that are reputable. That said, most SLP positions require a master's degree at least. A great source is the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association's website. They can give you any information you need in finding a school. Try looking here for the online programs: then narrow by Distance Education availability - either all courses, or partial. You can then check out each school's requirements to enroll. I hope this helps you and good luck in starting over in Florida! :)
Check with schools such as National University, Chapman, and University of Phoenix. Even though you many not be able to complete the degree entirely online, there is a good possibility that you can complete many of the courses online.
I don't think you can since you have to do clinical work for several of you courses. Some could be online. If it is through a brick and mortar school I don't think taking course work online is a bad thing.
