Pretty much Weld a rectangle around the halves that you cut and either bend the steel for some inner support, or a Hexagon type patteren (well 1/2) will be good for the insides... Make a support to stand the bottom on... Drill Hinges into the new support structure... and Put a Handle... I'd suggest Making a vent of some sort, how complicated you want ot make it is up to you... and Put in a bottom tray for charcoal and a top tray for the meat...

BTW, why on earth would you want to destroy a perfectly good beer keg? Just buy a cheap grill. They have one at sears that looks like tool box, isn't that cool enough?
