My fiance and I are planning a trip to Los Angeles in April, arriving before noon Friday and departing lat Sunday aftenoon. I am little torn about the choosing hotels. We definitely want to enjoy a day at the spa during our trip. I found a hotel, the Renaissance Hotel on Hollywood and Highland that has a spa on site for $238 and the spa treatment for the both of us is about $500. It seems like we wouldn't need a car if we stayed here coz there is the Walk of Fame, Universal Studios nearby, the Kodak Theatre and the Chineese Theatre. Which really I don't know if we should even visit the last two places I mentioned. Is is worth our time and is it really interesting? On the other hand there is a the Westin Bonaventure in Downtown L.A., where its only $103 a night and the spa couples package is $300. I am not sure how far it is from all the places we want to see. Here are a couple places we want to go to: Staples Center-Lakers Game Hollywood Walk of Fame Taping of Jimmy Kimel Live The Grove Rodeo Drive Santa Monica/Venice Beach 3rd Street Promenade The Ivy * A comedy bar Eat at the Griddle. With all these places would we need a car if I was to chooses either one of these places?

Any downtown hotel is suitable for your needs, though I would recommend the Westin Bonaventure, though I am biased since our wedding reception was held there, it was GREAT! You could always easily take the red line subway from the Hollywood/Highland station to Universal Studios station and beyond into North Hollywood, but you need to understand that our mass transit system isn't at all efficient. You'll need a car! just rent one!
It's always better to have a car in LA, But since there is no way you can do all this in 2 days anyways, I would spend some time learning the bus and subway routes, you could get a lot of it done, if you were really on top of your travel game......Bonaventure is nice but too far off center from your activities, except Lakers game......SM/Venice/3rd St will take you a full day right there....
One of the biggest knocks on ohio is that there isn't much in the way of mass transit. And, if you do something like take the bus, you're considered to be some kind of derelict. The mass transit system in ohio is the freeway system. And, that requires a car. You could take a cab everywhere. But, that gets expensive. Plus you have to call and wait for one if there's not one around, especially if there's some big event going on and everyone's calling cabs.
Uh ya rent a car or drive yur own here. i wouldn't go walking everywhere hahah. Besides How else would yu get anywhere???
I recommend the Renaissance at highland downtown isn't all that good and yes you might need the car(you will)
