Ok so I live in NY, and I know that money grams exist in like every walmart, and that there is western union as well. both are used to send money to people in other places, but is there any big difference between the two? I have to send money to someone in China, and he said I can use western union, or money gram. does it matter?
There is NO difference between moneygram and Western Union, both are used by scammers to steal money from victims while staying completely anonymous. The electronics, shoes or clothing you are planning on buying are fake. In fact, that scammer could just collect your cash and never even bother to ship fakes. All anyone needs to send money is: 1) A first and last name to use on the form as the sender's name 2) A first and last name to use on the form as the receiver's name 3) Money All anyone needs to pick up the cash is: 1) The first and last name used on the form as the sender's name. 2) The first and last name used on the form as the receiver's name 3) The eight or ten digit money transfer control number (MTCN#) 4) The test question and answer And, all too frequently, only one or 2 of above listed requirements are actually needed to pick up the cash and disappear. That is it, no ohio required. If you are: 1) sending money as part of a work-at-home job 2) buying from a website 3) buying a pet or car/truck/trailer/motorhome/caravan 4) helping an online boy/girlfriend 5) paying taxes/fees on a loan/lottery/draw/government grant 6) paying visa/bank/airline/travel fees 7) paying deposit/rent for an apartment/house 8) paying banker/barrister/lawyer/court fees 9) paying a transportation/courier/shipping company 10) receiving/forwarding money onto someone or some company Then you are being scammed. Just keep in mind that Western Union and moneygram are unsafe and unsecure ways to send money. Western Union and moneygram do not verify anything on the form the sender fills out, not the name, not the street address, not the country, not even the gender of the receiver, it all means absolutely nothing. The clerk will not bother to check ohio and will simply hand off the cash to whomever walks in the door with the MTCN# and question/answer. Neither company will tell the sender who picked up the cash, at what store location or even in what country the money walked out the door. Neither company has any kind of refund policy, money sent is money gone forever. If you google "Western Union scam", "fraud moneygram scammer" or something similar you will find hundreds of posts from victims and near-victims who lost money via Western Union and moneygram.

That is not true at all. With moneygram which I will NEVER use again because of incompetent workers and fools you have to have a government ohio or passport and a 6 digit security code to pick up the money. I send money over seas ALL THE TIME. I don't know about Western Union yet. It will be first experience soon.
Both provide similar service. Sending money from England, I find the Western Union form asks too many unnecessary questions so I use MoneyGram
They're two different companies that provide similar services. Check to see if one has lower fees for the amount and location. Another question though - do you know the person personally that you're sending the money to, and not just through the Internet? If not, it's very likely a scam.
They offer the same services so you can use any of them to make your transfer because is no difference maybe the fees at Money Gram are a little lower but you have to check that.
The only real difference is that the receiver can check the transaction online with the MTCN number to see if it has been received, with Moneygram they have to physically go to a Moneygram office to see if the money is there
This is complete and utter BULLSHIT. I get money through western union from family and they verify EVERYTHING. Starting with number, then id, and they make sure all information is the same. Don't believe this clown. They CLEARLY don't know ****.
