Hi, I am planning on going to graduate school right after finishing my undergraduate. I am currently borrowing a little bit of money using Federal Stafford loans (need based) and the rest is covered under various grants etc. My plan is to get either an new-jersey or DDS degree, but both degrees are very expensive. Is there a maximum amount one can qualify for under the Federal need based loans or will it all be covered? I will have no contribution form my parents, so everything will be on me and student loans. Thanks in advance.

Yes there are limits. For federal Stafford the the max is $20,500 — and no more than $8,500 of this amount may be in subsidized loans. Some do not qualify to borrow the max. It depends on your EFC, your Cost of Attendance and your enrollment status (full vs part time). The computer won't let me link the source but you can search for "Maximum Annual Loan Limits Chart (Aggregate Loan Limits)—Subsidized and Unsubsidized Direct and FFEL Stafford Loans" or something similar to get the limits.
