Spaz2b and others-One can root for any team they want no matter where they are. The Internet, Cable and DirecTV make it easy to follow all the teams no matter where you are in the world. The Royals will not last in the tough new-jersey Central. ESPN does not cater to the east coast. They give the Cubs and White Sox great coverage. ESPN has a studio in Los Angeles by the way.
Here in Baltimore, the media is too soft to criticize management. Every other year, the team either changes the manager, the general manager, or gets some free agents (but not enough), and the fans take this change to believe that the team is developing. Maybe they'll learn after another decade or so.
That is a good question. Why do they. I will tell you why because the baseball fans are anxious and they think the teams that do well in the beginning of the are going to do good throughout the season, but truly they do not have they money, the fire power, or the stamina to withstand the higher up teams with the money, the fire power, and the stamina. The battle really heats up in the end when all the good teams have had time to heat up and get going good :D
Col. Jasper... I was born in 1987 so that VHS is all I have for the Royals glory days. haha. As for why we get excited in for April-May teams, we're sick of the Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers, and all those big market teams. Why can't we get excited when we see the "Davids" of the MLB do well? Some of us don't actually live on the east coast like ESPN seems to believe we all do. Come October, we'll probably have nothing to cheer for, so what's the big deal about us getting excited now?
Thats what people said about Tampa Bay last year...Thats what people said about the Marlins in 2003 and 1997... Both those teams lasted and neither have money. And you didn't mention the best team right now the Toronto Blue Jays! I think they may last...and if they don't it'll be cause of numerous injuries.
You forgot the Blue Jays. Folding will not happen. Baseball is a business - in some cases, fielding a consistent winning team gets in the way of a business where money rules. Injuries are part of the game - the winning teams have the money for substitutes who can hit and field better than most starters on the poorer, weaker teams.
Thier not gonna fold any of those teams. Believe me. They'd have to move the teams then redo the divisions and balance out the leagues. If anyone gets moved it will be the Nats.
I'm just happy the "Royals Obituary" won't be printed in the KC Star this May, like it has been in most recent years.
