In my opinion he was without a doubt the WORST president is America's history! He was nothing but a disgrace and embarrassment! For those of you who have respect for this man, yet are against the war, you are horribly confused! This idiotic disgrace is the reason for the war! You should recall the bombing held in 1993, while bill clinton was president, and he was quoted saying "I believe this is a one time affair," honestly, was it a one time affair? Does 9/11 ring a bell people?! If this idiot had actually done something about terrorism, we wouldnt be in this situation. I mean, during his Monica Lewinsky sex scandals, National Defense wasnt his main priority! According to Gregg Jackson, he lied to the American people about his sex scandals, lied under oath in Paula Jones vs. Clinton case, lied to congress, made false claims of memory loss, Shredded documents, Whitewater documents mysteriously disappeared and reappeared, misused FBI files, improperly claimed privileges, abused power, misused federal agencies, Demonized smeared and destroyed witnesses!, Laundered money, took illegal foreign campaign contributions, took donations from drug dealers spies and international arms smugglers, Bombed Iraq and Kosovo to deflect attention from political problems, blackmailed people, repeatedly perjured himself, was in contempt of court, indulged in ridiculous adolescent sexual escapades, and had credible accusations of rape brought against him. Is that honorable to you? Bush was clearly a much better president than this embarrassment!
No joke. And what you mention is the tip of the iceberg. People clamor about how Bush screwed the economy but it was that ba$tard Clinton that did the most damage: 1993: Clinton extensively rewrote Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac's rules turning the quasi-private mortgage-funding firms into semi-nationalized monopolies dispensing cash and loans to large Democratic voting blocks and handing favors, jobs and contributions to political allies. This potent mix led inevitably to corruption and now the collapse of Freddie and Fannie. 1994: Despite warnings, Clinton unveiled his National Home-Ownership Strategy which broadened the CRA in ways congress never intended. 1995: Congress, about to change from a Democrat majority to Republican, Clinton orders Robert Rubin's Treasury Dept to rewrite the rules. Robt. Rubin's Treasury reworked rules, forcing banks to satisfy quotas for sub-prime and minority loans to get a satisfactory CRA rating. The rating was key to expansion or mergers for banks. Loans began to be made on the basis of race and little else. 1997 - 1999: Clinton, bypassing Republicans, enlisted Andrew Cuomo, then Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, allowing Freddie and Fannie to get into the sub-prime market in a BIG way. Led by Rep. Barney Frank and Sen. Chris Dodd, congress doubled down on the risk by easing capital limits and allowing them to hold just 2.5% of capital to back their investments vs 10% for banks. Since they could borrow at lower rates than banks their enterprises boomed. With incentives in place, banks poured billions in loans into poor communities, often 'no doc', 'no income', requiring no money down and no verification of income. Worse still was the cronyism: Fannie and Freddie became home to out-of work-politicians, mostly Clinton Democrats. 384 politicians got big campaign donations from Fannie and Freddie. Over $200 million had been spent on lobbying and political activities. During the 1990's Fannie and Freddie enjoyed a subsidy of as much as $182 Billion, most of it going to principals and shareholders, not poor borrowers as claimed. Did it work? Minorities made up 49% of the 12.5 million new homeowners but many of those loans have gone bad and the minority home ownership rates are shrinking fast. 1999: New Treasury Secretary, Lawrence Summers, became alarmed at Fannie and Freddie's excesses. Congress held hearings the ensuing year but nothing was done because Fannie and Freddie had donated millions to key congressmen and radical groups, ensuring no meaningful changes would take place 'We manage our political risk with the same intensity that we manage our credit and interest rate risks,' Fannie CEO Franklin Raines, a former Clinton official and current Barack Obama advisor, bragged to investors in 1999. 2000: Secretary Summers sent Undersecretary Gary Gensler to Congress seeking an end to the 'special status'. Democrats raised a ruckus as did Fannie and Freddie, headed by politically connected CEO's who knew how to reward and punish. 'We think that the statements evidence a contempt for the nation's housing and mortgage markets' Freddie spokesperson Sharon McHale said. It was the last chance during the Clinton era for reform. 2001: Republicans try repeatedly to bring fiscal sanity to Fannie and Freddie but Democrats blocked any attempt at reform; especially Rep. Barney Frank and Sen Chris Dodd who now run key banking committees and were huge beneficiaries of campaign contributions from the mortgage giants. 2003: Bush proposes what the minnesota Times called 'the most significant regulatory overhaul in the housing finance industry since the savings and loan crisis a decade ago'. Even after discovering a scheme by Fannie and Freddie to overstate earnings by $10.6 billion to boost their bonuses, the Democrats killed reform. 2005: Then Fed chairman Alan Greenspan warns Congress: 'We are
Why is it that nobody ever mentions when the UN ordered it's inspectors out of Iraq because of all the hindrances put up by Hussein? Saddam signed UN Resolution 1441, which was merely a reiteration of UN Res. 687 (set terms of cease-fire) that was why Bush 1 stopped bombing him. This required that Iraq provide UNMOVIC and the IAEA immediate, unimpeded, unconditional, and unrestricted access any where they wanted to go. Hussein refused to comply. Clinton FAILED TO ACT when he should have. He had the authority to send the bombers back in then, and no one would have challenged, or even criticized him for it. But he didn't. Bush had to, and ever since, the libs have called him a liar, that he started a war for oil...blah,blah blah. We may never know where the WMD's went, or for that matter, if there were any. If there were none, Saddam Hussein should go down as the stupidest ruler who ever lived, because he gave every impression that he had something to hide. The UN, Pansy f'n organization that it is, did nothing..let it ride. Meanwhile, 'ol Saddams paying Palestinian suicide bombers families $25,000 when one of the crazy ***** goes looking for his 72 virgins. So George went after him. Thanks George, it was nice to have a Pres. with some balls for a while...your second term, you sucked, but i'm glad it was you for 9/11...Al Gore would have been a nightmare.
Bill Clinton gave us the best 8 years of our life. Bill also gave us the 3 time loser bill, he Balanced the Budget, the Brady Bill, 100.000 Policeman, Family and Medical Leave Act, Assault Weapons Ban, Violent Crime Control, The Law Enforcement Act, part of an omnibus crime bill, the federal death penalty was expanded to some 60 different offenses and don’t you forget Welfare Reform and the list goes on and on. No other President for the last 50 years can even come close to match all of the accomplishments that this man has made for our country. One day you will wish we had another Pres that worked as hard and got so much accomplished as he did while in office
Draft dodging, Dope smoking, Disbarred, Dishonest, Womanizing, SOB. But had some smarts to work with an opposition Congress to take advantage of good economic times to bring the deficit down. But they still didn't do enough and put many policies in place that we are paying for today and generations in the future.(there wasn't any surplus as commonly stated, the official OMB budget states as much, and we were running a nearly $2trillion deficit by borrowing from the Social Security and Medicare trusts.)
Clinton was a BIG joke of a president, who I believe if it wasn't for Perot running in 92 as well, would NEVER have beaten the first Pres. Bush.
I think the final result was favorable. The economy and country were both in good shape when he departed. Contrast that with George Jr. Because you have moral values that he does not proves nothing. He did not go to jail, nor was he thrown out of office. The truth is we were infinitely better off then than we are now. His sexual escepades are Hilary's problem. In my opinion he was the comsummate politician. Lying, cheating and stealing go with the job. He was good at it. Disregarding what was going on under his desk, he handled the desktop well.
There are a million errors of fact in your rant, but let me just give you one. Clinton DID do something after the first WTC bombing--he found, arrested, prosecuted and convicted the people who did it and they are all rotting in prison. No one responsible for 9/11 has ever been caught. If only Bush had done half of what Clinton did, I would be happy.
At the time all the people talked about was Monica Lewinsky and White Water and all the people who died *mysteriously* because of the Clinton's egad~~people died from the Clinton's and it was not a coincidence
I don't think about Bill Clinton, stopped thinking about him when he left office.
Sorry, I disagree. He wasn't the best president ever.. but he was pretty good. We are now about to have the worst or close to the worst president ever... give Obama time!
